Many of our members are isolated as their disability restricts access to the transport, entertainment and leisure activities most of us take for granted. The Society runs 8 social clubs which meet monthly and provide a variety of entertainment and outings. Craft classes are held throughout the county and act as both an interesting, therapeutic activity and a social occasion. The Society also encourages and supports various self-run groups.
Such social activities give members the opportunity to go out and meet others, provide support and encouragement and let them know that they are not alone in the difficulties they face.
In addition, groups of visually impaired people meet and participate in social activities within their area, such as pub lunches, darts, and theatre trips. These are run by staff and volunteers, some of whom are also visually impaired.

In several areas there are established and growing groups of bowlers, who meet for exercise, friendship and light-hearted competition. Bowls takes place outdoors in summer and at indoor clubs in winter. Help with transport may be possible and no experience is necessary.
