In September 2009 BCBS launched the Get Active Sports Club to give visually impaired members aged 10-25 the same sporting opportunity as their sighted peers.
Supported by Alan Whetherly, runs monthly sessions that have seen visually impaired children and young people enjoying cricket, tennis, jujitsu, basketball, goalball and football.
Needless to say, some of the sports are adapted and use special equipment but, with the support of trained coaches (some of whom are also visually impaired), the children and young people can have fun, enjoy being part of a team and experience a new sport.
Times and venues are subject to change so please call 0118 987 2803 to book your place and confirm details.
